What’s the main reason why you wear foundation? For me, it’s to even out my skin tone. There’s something magic in having a clear, even face and it gives me confidence to the max… Then you have to take it off * insert sad face emoji *.
In the lead up to my Cook Islands trip (yip, I’m a very lucky girl), I searched high and low for a solution (cause girl knows foundation will not work in the island sun) to even skin that starts WITH my skin rather than temporarily solving the problem.
I’ve been introduced this month to Arbonne (yeah, you’ve heard of it), and more specifically their RE9 Advanced skincare range to help solve my problem. Much more on that soon (you can read my personal review of the range below), but firstly, how do you create an even and natural skin tone so you could say goodbye to foundation forever?
After much research, I’ve found that it’s not so much a routine to get even skin tone, or a bunch of expensive brands in your bathroom cabinet, but rather one ingredient. ONE INGREDIENT for gorgeous skin! Vitamin C.
After an even skin tone? This one ingredient will give you that!
Vitamin C provides a range of benefits, from evening out your skin tone, shielding skin from the visible impacts of pollution (so important these days), significantly improving hydration, and keeping your skin looking young and youthful. Yip, what can’t it do?
Now that I’ve convinced you enough, finding a skincare product with Vitamin C in it will be top of your priority list. I recommend starting with a serum and eye cream if you’re on a budget, as you’ll get results where you want them most. I’ve been using Arbonne’s RE9 Advanced range, one that swears by its star ingredient – Vitamin C! In fact, they’ve reformulated their recipe to elevate the Vitamin C ingredient even more by including Sustainable Orange Stem Cells. And before you freak out at the scientific lingo – this basically means that the concentrated Vitamin C in the products help improve your skin’s overall health, and you can have a healthy-looking (and feeling) face.
Read on for my thoughts on the full range…
“RE9 Advanced has been three years in the making (being clinically tested), and includes the latest in skincare advancements as well as gold standard ingredients. Vitamin C is at the heart of this range, but it’s been stepped up with Sustainable Orange Stem Cells that helps improve the appearance of skin radiance, elasticity, firmness and texture. It’s also combined with peptides and botanicals that provide clinically tested anti-aging benefits.”
Overall, I’m really impressed with the RE9 Advanced range. I’ve used Vitamin C products before, but nothing that worked so quickly. My skin looked more alive and radiant after just a couple of days, and after two weeks I’ve been able to shift from a foundation to just a BB cream for coverage. And what about my trip to the Cook Islands? Well, I got away with a simple sunscreen (it’s important, kids) and some concealer; that’s all I have on my face in the photo below.
For my skincare routine, I start with the Smoothing Facial Cleanser that gently takes any dirt and impurities away. I then spritz a little of the Regenerating Toner on a cotton pad and swipe over my face (it’s also nice to keep in your handbag as a mist). I follow up with the Intensive Renewal Serum and Corrective Eye Cream and let them soak in while I brush my teeth, finishing off with either the Night Repair Cream or Restorative Day Cream SPF 15 depending on whether it’s morning or night. The routine may sound intense, but it won’t take you more than 5 minutes for results that you’ll truly see. You can get the full pack I use here.
If I HAD to pick 3 favourites from this range (cause I realise it can be hard to buy all at once), I’d say to start with the Intensive Renewal Serum and Corrective Eye Cream, and finish up with the Night Repair Cream. These products sink in so quickly and easily (the night cream in particular had me VERY impressed), and you’ll get results where you want them.
As I’ve had such instant results from one range, I’m excited to trial more of the Arbonne range. Arbonne launched in New Zealand in 2016 with their skincare and cosmetics ranges followed by nutrition, earlier this year. They use cruelty free, botanically based and vegan-certified ingredients, so it ticks a lot of boxes for me. You can check it out here.
Thanks to Arbonne for teaming up with me on this post. All opinions are 100% honest and my own.
