Story time!! I finally caught a cold last week (seriously, it’s been trying to catch me all year), and apart from it stopping me from going to the gym (where did my energy go?!) the thing I found most annoying is how dehydrated my skin was getting. Honestly, like a sponge!

So instead of letting it take over like I would normally do, I thought it was the perfect time to trial some products made perfectly for dehydrated skin. I put all the bottom products to the test together, and found that my skin has bounced back really quickly from being sick (a godsend if you ask me). So these are my skincare saviours when you’re sick…

1. Kiehl’s Cucumber Herbal Conditioning Cleanser:
Made with dry and/or sensitive skin in mind, this cucumber infused gel-to-foam cleanser doesn’t contain any soap or sulfate so it’s not stripping your skin of any good oils (the kind you desperately need during this time). I found this really light to use as a cleanser, and my skin (even the really aggravated bits around my nose) didn’t sting from it.

2. Eau Thermale Avene Thermal Spring Water:
I use this bad boy as a toner, but you really can use it however you like. A natural spritz of beautiful, pure spring water that’s magic for healing your skin. Don’t believe me? Find out more here! I’ve been using this product for a while, but it really was amazing for getting my skin back to normal fast.

3. Trilogy No.15 beauty oil:
My skin soaks up oils when it’s dehydrated, so I was excited to give this bad-boy a go finally (seriously, no idea why I waited so long). Made with 15 super-seed oils, this beauty oil is great for everyday pollution protection (so you can imagine I’m still using it even after being sick).

4. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream:
This cream is seriously legendary for healing anything quickly. I’ve been using this around my nose the moment I saw any redness, and it’s stopped any dry patches and redness in their tracks. Normally I would be suffering with dry skin up to 2 weeks post-sickness, but by using this, you wouldn’t be able to tell I’ve been sick.

5. Clinique Pep-Start eye cream:
This was my saviour the moment I started leaving the house. Within 3 seconds your eyes look more awake and any puffiness (from lack of sleep) is gone. Again, I’ve been using this product for a while now but it goes to show how great it is when you’re feeling like a zombie.

6. Garnier Hydra Bomb Ultra Hydrating Soothing Mask:
Said to keep your skin hydrated for a whole week, I put this sheet mask to the test and was pleasantly surprised. Adding this to the other products I used made a big impact on my skin feeling bouncy again. I highly recommend using this product the moment you notice your skin soaking up products but still feeling dry.

7. Clinique Pep-Start Pout Restoring Night Mask:
My lips always get sooooooo dry when I’m sick, so this product was a favourite. Even now (post-sickness), I’m finding that normal lip balm just doesn’t stay put, so getting this on each night was a game changer. I finally got through a cold where my lips didn’t crack at all. Winning!!

8. MECCA MAX Game Face BB Cream:
I’ve been using this product for a while now, but it gave me LIFE with being sick. Just giving a light glow and colour to my face was a godsend. If you haven’t checked out this brand yet, get onto it before Christmas as it’s super affordable but packs a punch. I’m slowly collecting the whole range!

So tell me, how do you keep your skin hydrated when you’re sick?
