Adult acne and blemishes. Definitely a thing. Even with eating healthy, drinking plenty of water and washing your face twice a day (yes, I said twice), you can’t help but notice blackheads, whiteheads, and those annoying bumps in your T-zone that just won’t go away.

I’ve tried my hand at peels, and have nearly cried in the process (blackhead charcoal ones can seriously get out of my life), Whilst they are great at getting rid of noticeable sebum right then and there, they don’t help in the long run… And I’m not doing them ever again.

So, how do you get rid of all kinds of blemishes and clear your skin right up? Easy! Let me introduce you to something we like to call Oil Cleansing.

This one trick will clear your skin right up

I was introduced to cleansing oil earlier this year, and I don’t think it’s an item i’m about to ditch anytime soon. Basically speaking, it’s an oil that mixes with the good oils in your skin to get out the bad ones. So if you’re already an oily gal, this product is actually going to be GREAT for you.

Now, using this cleansing oil (check out my fave brand below) and completing a routine of oil cleansing once a day, your skin will clear up beautifully and you’ll wonder how you ever got by beforehand.

So what the hell is oil cleansing?

Oil cleansing is a process that pulls out dirt and sebum in your pores without clogging them up afterwards. The oily texture makes it easy to work out impurities naturally and non-invasively so your skin is kept in it’s prime.

I’ve been using Moisture Mist Gentle Cleansing Oil and highly recommend it if you’re starting out or if you’re simply trying to save those pennies. At only $25 a bottle (that’ll last around 2-3 months), this product really is gentle on your skin and doesn’t aggravate any issues your skin may be having. I’m getting over a bit of eczema around my nose, and this product does not make it angry and upset like other cleansing routines can.

What you’ll need to oil cleanse

– An awesome oil cleanser (I recommend the Moisture Mist Gentle Cleansing Oil)
– A damp and hot face towel
– 10 minutes (I like to do this at night, because it helps to really get all my makeup off before bed)

How to oil cleanse

1. Apply a damp hot face towel on your face for 20 seconds. This will help to open your pores.

2. Dispense 2-3 pumps of Moisture Mist Gentle Cleansing Oil onto clean hands. Work your oil cleanser all over your face and massage in a circular motion with the palm of your hands and fingers (not finger nails). After a few minutes, you should feel dirt and grime lifting out.

3. Wash away with water. You can repeat the above steps if you’re not happy with the results, but don’t beat your skin up too much to begin with.

4. Tone and continue your nighttime skincare routine.

Naturally, it’ll take a couple of weeks for your skin to adapt to the new routine and start to work but I definitely think it’s worth it. I needed my skin to be in it’s prime for a mid-year wedding, so I started this routine a month out and now it’s something I’ve included in my weekly routine. I’ll use my Moisture Mist Gentle Cleansing Oil every night as a normal cleanser (add water and the product starts to foam), and in the weekend I’ll go through the above oil cleansing routine to help clear up any impurities.

If you’d like to get your hands on some, head into your local Farmers (or head to the online store) to purchase yourself a bottle.
